Outline

What are they doing?  What questions do you need to ask?  Who do you have to call?  What locations should you use?  When can this be done?  What visuals will be needed?  When is it most convenient for the subject to be filmed?  What style do you want to attempt while filming?  Know all of this information (not just in your head, make an outline and story board) before you even think about grabbing a camera.

I want to film a documentary at either a police station or a fire station and i would like to sit them down in a room and have them talk to me about the job i want to film around the station or house whatever it is i want to film them on the job too as much as i can I will start with calling the hilliard police and fire station i=first and expanding outward if i need too i would like to do all of this this weekend ill talk to the guys or girls their about when it will be convent for them and i want the style to look sweet and interesting and overall kickass

Big idea

This needs to be shared with me by Wednesday, March 6. Also post the answers on your Blogger.

How did you decide on your Big Idea?

I thought for a long time on what I wanted to do for my big idea project.  I also changed my mind three times.  What I thought when i got my idea that i followed though with using, i was thinking that since it was a big idea i should learn something big from it.  I have always loved comedy sketches and videos and i wanted to learn how to do them.  So the big idea that i wanted to get out of this project was how to expand my capabilities and/or range of film making.

How did you decide on a way to show that Big Idea through video?

I first watched a bunch of sketches to try to get inspiration from.  There were a lot that i liked that were pretty good but there was one that i absolutely loved.  It was a sketch from a british network and if didn’t even get most of the references they made i just loved the idea.  So i took the ide and made my own script to make it relevant to americans.

What video concepts did you decide not to do? Why?
I didn’t follow through with the plain boring action movie idea that almost everybody in this class tries to make at some point.  I didn't feel like it was original idea and that i would get as much out of the action movie as i would the sketch.  I wanted to learn as much as i could with this project and didn't want to waste the opportunity to have a choice on what to create.

Do you feel you effectively talked about your Big Idea with your video? Why or why not?
i don't believe that i talked about my big idea in my video it was more of an experience for me.  I'm not sure if thats what we were supposed to do or not.  Maybe i just didn't read the directions close enough.  I thought i could make a video where i could get as much new experiences as i could while still making a good video.

What was the best part of this process (brainstorming, writing, planning, shooting, editing, etc?) Why was it the best for you?
I love every single part of making movies.  Brainstorming is fun because i love to see what i can come up with and being able to feel like nothing is impossible and anything i think of can be made.  Writing is fun and it starts to bring me back down and ask myself if the video can realistically be made or if the idea will be one that is good or not.  It also give me the freedom to put in twists and points that i didn't originally come up with while brainstorming.  Planning lets me know exactly what is going to happen, so i can visualize it and compare that to what i had originally brainstormed.  Shooting is always a lot of fun because you get to act and pretend and be someone who you're not.   Then editing is amazing because you can watch every piece come together(... or all apart) and create the film you saw in your head.

What was the best part of choosing your own Big Idea as opposed to me setting one for you? The worst part?
The best and worst part was the freedom.  I love being able to kinda just film whatever i wanted and been like heres my project but i didn't want to do that.  Like i said before i wanted to get the best out of this as i could so having so many possibilities was also difficult. I wanted to try something new that i had never done before even when part of me just wanted to play it safe and do something simple.  But i took the risk and the result i was very upset with.  It was not the video that i had imagined and it wasn't funny like i was trying to have it be.  But even still i feel like i learned a little bit more than i already knew about sketches and it was a successful project.

Propose one additional Big Idea video idea that you could accomplish by March 14. I want very specific details: what, who, why, how, when, where.
A video that i would love to make is one that basically shows me and my friends having fun. One of those compilation videos that makes you smile and feel happy.  I want to make a video that makes people go “wow that kid has fun with his life.”  It would be with maybe my closest few friends and i would want to have a bunch of different places.  I would also want a bunch of smiling and laughing.  I want to do this because i love seeing videos like this and it brightens my day so if i could get even close to making someone's day better while having fun, then that feels like a win win for me and them.

BIg Idea Project

Big Idea: Risk taking/close calls
Potential Topics: Shoot out, fast paced, running, chasing, antagonist vs. protagonist, Adventure, steal something, injury, mystery, twist, cheesy old action scene.

Action is tough, gritty, bloody, and fast.  Heart pounding scenes.
Comedy is and thing thats funny. It could be fast witty humor or slow planned out comedy                 conversations.
Action isn't slow and boring its very intriguing, it grabs your attention and forces you to watch.
Comedy is something that if done correctly you should want to be friends with that person or at least know them. If you understand.  When i see someone who is or acts funny i want to get to know the person.
In action the main characters are tough and rough they don't really care about much
In comedies it can really be anyone who stars in it.  But in action comedies you almost have someone who is in experienced and doesn't know what they are doing.
Boys usually want to see as many actions movies s they can even when their younger.
Comedy is for everyone but it's hard to reach all age groups at once.  Comedy can usually only reach a certain demographic kids, teens, young adult, adult, and seniors.
Boys usually love action movies and girls sometimes do but it doesn't draw girls as much as it does guys.  Comedy can reach anyone in the demographic they aim for.
Action in real life isn't normally as entertaining as it is in movies and people/things in life can be really funny but movies are usually packed full of comedy.
movie action comedy don't happen in real life.
In action lives are usually threatened and in comedies people are usually made fun of or have good come backs.
rewards in action can be saving someone or getting justice.  comedies goals are usually just to make you laugh... thats it.

Action is about close calls
Action is about taking risks
Action is about adrenaline pumping shoots
Action is about good vs. bad
Action is about suspense
Comedy is about laughing so hard you cry
Comedy is about cheering up your day
Comedy is about smiling
Comedy is about enjoying yourself
Comedy is about having fun

intervention

- In your own words, what is intervention?
I think that an intervention is anything that is different in someone's life.  Anything that intervenes with their everyday routine.

- What was the purpose of this exercise?
To show everyone in the class how much fun and how great it is to make someone else day more fun, interesting, or just different.

- Why did you choose to intervene the way you did? I’m looking for more than “I thought it would be funny” or “no one would expect it.”  What social/personal/human issue did you intend to comment on? Why? How?
I had a lot more that I wanted to do that I didn't get too but that was just because of the winter.  I ended up with my idea by starting out with the craziest thing I could think of.  Then when i chickened out and couldn't go swimming in the fountain i worked my way down to just doing odd things in the store because i figured that it was reasonable and still a good idea.  Why? because people often don't enjoy going to the store.  Seeing something weird always makes me smile.  How? random things that certain people look like they would enjoy.

- Why did you choose the location? I’m looking for more thought than “lots of people would be there, so I went there.” How did the location play up your specific idea?
We figured that in walmart we would be able to get away with a lot more than we would anywhere else.  The location gave us so much options to do for the video that we were kind of overwhelmed.

- Name three specific examples, ideas, artworks or statements you observed in class that helped you plan for this project.
I always watch video on youtube of people pranking other people and i think that its so funny so i got a big inspiration from that.  The video of improve everywhere was pretty cool too.

I hate routines and i cant stand when i have to do the same thing over and over again.  People that have to go to the store usually arent happy to be there.  Me and my friends thought that we should go to walmart and do something weird to try to make them go home and tell someone in their family something they saw at walmart.  We would see someone in an ail and based on what was around them we would do something crazy.  Brian saw a girl next to  big teddy bear so he picked it up sucked his thumb and walked around her. When we did things like that for a while we decided to make sure everyone saw something.  So what we did was rode bikes through the store around everyone. It was fun and i hope what we went there to do ended up happening.  This was a really fun project and i enjoyed it a ton.
